Two friends and I bought Ariel Atoms in 2018 to use at track days. Our first event was at Silverstone and we quickly realised we needed help! Whilst we knew the basic methodology of how to drive a track we didn’t have the skills or the confidence to attack a circuit properly resulting in either very slow speed or spins. It really spoils your day when you have to keep looking in your rear view mirrors for faster cars so you can move out of the way.

Simon joined the three of us on our next meet at Brands Hatch and it became quickly apparent that he knew how to drive the cars quickly and more importantly how to coach us to improve. We started the day being constantly overtaken and finished the day keeping up with the pack. My day was saved by Simon. At the time my driving style was a bit erratic and at the end of the day I snatched at a corner and the car began to spin. Luckily Simon was in the car with me, grabbed the steering wheel and from the passenger seat controlled the car so that it became a slide! To this day I don’t know how anyone could do that given I was travelling at about 80mph at the time.

Since then we’ve used Simon on every track day. Over the season he has taught me how to be smooth and encouraged me to be more confident. Brake later, show me the best lines “slow in, fast out” through the corners then progressive power from the apex. My driving has improved immensely. Fastest on track recently at Bedford (my two mates weren’t there to be fair) and at Silverstone only the McClaren’s and Porsche GT3’s are faster.

I’m loving my track days, it’s exciting, fun and a good crowd but it wouldn’t be anywhere near as satisfying if my driving hadn’t improved. That improvement is down to Simon. He’s knowledgeable, encouraging, good fun and safe. I would happily recommend him as a coach in any car.

I met Simon Clark during an intense shoot in -20 conditions in Lapland for Shell Helix. He had to drive the insane Arial Nomad car as fast as he could, off road in deep snow. Not only was Simon an experienced and ace driver, but he really understood what it took to create great shots. He took direction really well and was able to make minute adjustments to his drive in order to get the car ever closer to the camera on the Russian Arm tracking vehicle. This takes great skill, control and understanding. To top it off he was such fun to be around and his never ending enthusiasm on set was infectious!

Simon has been employed by Ariel to drive and perform tests on vehicles from basic driver tuition to advance longevity tests on vehicles and suspension setup / test days. he was a key member of the testing program for Ariel's project the Nomad. He has been a driver supplied for various media projects where the  repeatability of stunts is of the utmost importance.

Simon is a laid back character with plenty of enthusiasm and a love of the task at hand, also capable of representing the company and its brand in  public situations.

I first worked with Simon Clark at ProDrive Live and later at other companies educating drivers both on the track and in advanced driving techniques on public roads.

In my then capacity as a Roads Policing Inspector, I was very impressed by Simon's capacity to make his client relaxed and enjoy their drive in a safe and planned manner, taking into account the prevailing circumstances appearing in both arenas. His input is always positive, often humorous, but at all times with respect and effortlessly instructing, lifting the driving standards of those he teaches.

Simon's own driving skills are superior to most. If a demonstration drive is required, he is often the person chosen to undertake it. This includes correct positioning on a public road to controlled skidding on designated facilities. 

Simon is a pleasure to work with. He is non assuming, willing to put others before him e.g. charity days without pay, and is a proven asset to any team of instructors from any background. I would have no hesitation in highly recommending him.
